Ethanol from sugar cane is clean and renewable energy. “I strongly believe ethanol from sugar cane is an important contribution to the fight against climate change. Never before have I felt this good while making money.” says investor and owner Jens Ulltveit-Moe.
Umoe Bioenergy produces 2,6 million tons ethanol a year. This equals approximately 7 % of the yearly emissions from Norwegian cars. Every year we produce the same amount of ethanol as a small Norwegian oil field produces oil. The key difference is that our energy is clean and renewable.
We are currently investing in a Cogen facility that will produce electricity and when it is ready in 2012 we will produce 30MW, which is equal to the electricity used by 100 000 Brazilian households in a year.
